Curriculam
A child’s educational and personal development
depend to a great extent on the early years of
schooling. As such, the emphasis will be placed on
developing skills and competency in the core
subjects: English language, Mathematics,
Environmental Studies/ Science, Sinhala / Tamil.
Special emphasis will be given to subjects like
English, Science and Mathematics. Students will be
exposed to Computer Education from Grade I.
In addition, the curriculum will include
- Physical and Health Education
- General Knowledge
- Music and Singing
- Speech and Drama
- Dancing
The College is committed to the development of the total personality, and an in-house
designed personality program will provide instructions in Principles and Values, Social
Behavior, Personality Development and Career Guidance.
Discipline
Discipline is a necessary part of campus life and good discipline is based on an agreement
between the campus and parents about what is expected of the child. Parents are always
encouraged to work with the campus to try and solve any problems that may arise.
- There will be a focus on maintaining high standards of discipline and ethical behavior.
- The campus rules will be made available to parents and students and displayed on Notice Boards.
- These rules will provide a stable framework for behavior inside and out of the campus.
The students growth reaching over 400 may allow to some extent a relatively relaxed
discipline.
This involves obedience to specific orders and regulations monitored by those assigned to
perform such duties at the college (Campus).
Counseling
Students are in the care of the class Teacher. In addition, a counselor will be available for
counseling.
Uniforms
A formal dress is required for participating in class or school activity, while there will be
school approved attire for sports activities
Girls: dark maroon skirt, light beige blouse with school badge on pocket with black socks
& black shoes.
Boys: dark maroon trousers, light beige shirt with school badge on pocket with black
socks & black shoes.
A minimum of 2 sets of uniforms will have to be purchased each year
Medical
A first Aid Box is available at the school. If further medical attention is required, the
parents will be informed and in the event of an emergency, medical attention will be
sought from the Hospital, for which parents must reimburse the school
Conditions to apply
Good Shepherd College (campus), as an international school, will only consider
an application as serious if there are valid reasons why the applicant should
follow an international curriculum in Sri Lanka. These reasons need to be clearly
explained to us by accompanying letter. All prospective applicants need to have
applications lodged by the end of December of the year admission is sought.
The following should be sent with the application:
- Application fees
- Covering letter indicating why the family wishes their child to
study at Good Shepherd College - School leaving certificate
- Copy of birth certificate and passport (if available)
Admissions for the academic year commencing in January are usually decided in
December of the year by the previous Admissions Committee
